We may all know the top 2 or 3 most popular search engines on the Internet, but we may have no idea about others that still serve millions of queries per day. Google has centred itself as the king of all Search Engines and it serves almost 70% of the online users. Here is our list of “TOP 10 MOST POPULAR SEARCH ENGINES“.

1.  Google

Alexa Rank : 1 | Estimated monthly users : 1.6 Billion

I don’t think this one needs any explanations on how Google made it to the first position in the list. Google has 1.6 Billion monthly visitors, thus acquiring Rank 1 on Alexa. With 69.5% of the World’s market share of search, Google is simply the “Search Giant” in the world of internet.

2. Baidu

Alexa Rank : 4 | Estimated monthly users : 657 Million

This Chinese search engine was founded in Jan 1, 2000. Baidu deliver results for websites, audio files and images. It has other features like news, maps and cloud storage; and has an Alexa rank 4. It is also the most used search engine in China.

3. Bing

Alexa Rank : 22 | Estimated monthly users : 400 Million

Bing was made by Microsoft to challenge Google in the Search Engine market.  With over 400 Million monthly users, Bing has an Alexa Rank 22. Also, Bing’s video search is said to be significantly better than that of Google.

4. Yahoo

Alexa Rank : 5 | Estimated monthly users : 300 Million

Yahoo is said to have a market share of 7.8% in the Search Engine market. Recently, Verizon purchased Yahoo for $4.8 Billion and is planning to merge it with Aol. Yahoo will continue to operate independently pending regulatory approval of the deal, which is expected to be completed by early 2017. Yahoo services like Yahoo Mail, Yahoo News and Yahoo Sports are equally popular, giving Yahoo an Alexa Rank 5 ( higher than Bing ).

5. Ask

Alexa Rank : 31 | Estimated monthly users : 245 Million

Unlike other search engines, Ask is good for specific question related searches, with results comprising mostly of Q&A related matches. They receive 3% of the total search share, and thus has an Alexa Rank 31.

6. Aol

Alexa Rank : 247 | Estimated monthly users : 125 Million

Aol recieves 0.59% of the total search share, and has an Alexa rank 247. It is owned and operated by Verizon Communications. The company also provides advertising services – Aol Advertising and Aol Platform.

7. DuckDuckGo

Alexa Rank : 614 | Estimated monthly users : 100 Million

DuckDuckGo is well known for protecting the users’ privacy. Inorder to generate search results, they have partnered with Yahoo, Bing, and Yummly. Their source of revenue is from Yahoo-Bing Search Alliance Network and Affiliates. With over 100 Million montly users, the site has an Alexa rank 614.

8. WOW

Alexa Rank : 2,202 | Estimated monthly users : 100 Million

Unlike other search engines, WOW concentrates more on news and celebrity based articles. It helps you to find all the breaking news articles, top videos, and trending topics. WOW has an Alexa rank 2,202 and is the 8th most popular search engine in the world.

9. WebCrawler

Alexa Rank : 2,506 | Estimated monthly users : 65 Million

WebCrawler brings top search results from Google, Yahoo and other popular search engines. They also provide multimedia results like Yahoo or Google – including pictures, videos, news, weather, etc. It acquires 2,506th position on Alexa and has approximately 65 Million monthly users.

10. Yandex

Alexa Rank : 1,268 | Estimated monthly users : 45 Million

Moving onto the 10th position; Yandex is the most popular search engine in Russia, serving almost 45 Million monthly users. It has an Alexa rank 1,268; and maintains a strong presence in countries like Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Belarus and Turkey.
