Facebook announces Marketplace – used to discover, buy and sell items with people in member’s community. This new feature will make peer-to-peer shopping even easier, according to a blog post from the company. The feature will have its own icon on the front page of the Facebook app, allowing users to browse items for sale in their area. Also, the buyers can directly message sellers from within Facebook Marketplace.
Called as the ‘friendlier Craigslist’, almost 500 Million people already utilize buy and sell groups on FB, which lead the company capitalize the E-commerce potential of its massive user-base. This is expected to have a bad impact over other popular marketplaces like eBay and Craigslist. Though the idea of a social marketplace sounds great, the safety and security concerns are yet to be addressed.
