A tiny town in France, Tourouvre-au-Perche in Normandy, has installed the World’s First Solar Road to power its street lights. French Ecology Minister Ségolène Royal officially opened the kilometer-long road on Wednesday.
Made on a whopping $5.2 Million dollars, the roads are coated with a clear silicon resin that enables them to withstand the impact of passing traffic. It took almost 5 years to lay down the road consisting 30,000 sq. feet of solar panels.
