Oppo announces Reno 4 Pro, a kind of distant “cousin” of the OnePlus Nord

Oppo’s Reno mid-range device has received a new member. This is a new device with “premium” aspirations, but with 4G: the Oppo Reno4 Pro model. The phone even integrates features that some top models do not offer, such as a very fast charging technology, a screen with a fast refresh rate and very high brightness, but also a four-camera system.

Oppo Reno4 Pro is similar to the OnePlus Nord… up to a point

Reno4 Pro could be a kind of distant “cousin” for the OnePlus Nord model, the major difference between the two being mainly the chipset. Compared to the Snapdragon 765 with 5G, Oppo chose for this model a Snapdragon 720G chipset, a slightly slower alternative and equipped only with a 4G modem. The configuration is complemented by 8 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of internal storage.

The 6.5 ”AMOLED screen is perforated in the upper left corner to accommodate a 32 megapixel front camera, and displays a resolution of 2,400 x 1,080 pixels. With a refresh rate of 90 Hz, touch response at 180 Hz and brightness of 1,100 nits, this screen is superior even to those on top premium models of other companies. It is also curved at the edges, something that OnePlus has chosen not to integrate on the Nord model.

The same goes for the battery. Oppo Reno4 Pro integrates a 4,000 mAh battery, probably with a two-cell design, which uses the proprietary SuperVOOC 2.0 charging standard (just like the Find X2 series models). Thus, the phone can be fully charged in just 36 minutes from 0 to 100% using the plug-in adapter that charges 65W. However, the construction is made of plastic. Both the lid and the frame appear to be metallic, but they are not.

However, the cameras are less “special”. The system is almost identical to the one on the OnePlus Nord, integrating four sensors with dedicated lenses. We are talking about a 48 megapixel Sony IMX586 main sensor with f / 1.7 aperture, an 8 megapixel sensor with ultra-wide lens, a 2 megapixel macro camera and finally, a 2 megapixel monochrome camera. The latter should capture more detail to improve photo processing. At least it’s not a deep room.
