The Galaxy A82 could use a Sony sensor for the main camera

Prepared as a direct replacement for the A80, the Galaxy A82 is expected with a high-end Snapdragon processor from older generations and a camera with Sony sensor.

Although the newly launched models, Galaxy A52 and Galaxy A72, have currently captured all the fans’ attention, these are not the only Galaxy A phones ready for launch in 2021. After A72, Galaxy A82 will come with an even higher level of performance, but obtained using components not even of the latest generation.

According to recent rumors, Samsung will use Snapdragon 855+ for the Galaxy A82 5G, a chipset that was the basis of some of the most advanced smartphones launched in 2019. Basically, this phone will be equivalent to a high-end 2 years ago, but it will have some major advantages, Galaxy A82 5G will come with Android 11 pre-installed, something that not many phones still receive. Another feature we can be sure of is the presence of a latest generation Super AMOLED screen.

Other rumors reveal some details about the camera. Contrary to expectations, the Galaxy A82 will not use the ISOCELL GW1 sensor for the main camera, as it is already appearing in the A52 and A72 series. Instead, Samsung would have selected a slightly better alternative, the Sony IMX686. Also with a resolution of 64MP, it was also found on flagship phones launched in the latter part of 2019 by Huawei, Xiaomi, Meizu and several other manufacturers.

Unfortunately, the exact details of the photo setup are not known. In particular, it is unclear whether Samsung will keep the system based on sliding and rotating the camera hidden behind the screen, or will opt for a less expensive technical solution.
