The GoPro company has been hit by the pandemic more than others. Its entire business is based on the fact that the users of its products go in nature or on trips, which was very difficult to recommend in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the restrictions are starting to weaken in many countries, and the launch of a new GoPro Hero 9 Black action camera seems to be extremely close, as we already have the first images with it, as well as details about its improved capabilities.
GoPro Hero 9 Black seems to be a minor upgrade, adding only a color display on the front
WinFuture has the first photos again with the new GoPro Hero 9 Black, and they show an action camera with two screens. This would be the first time that GoPro puts a color screen on the front of the camera, after last year DJI launched a competitor in the form of the Osmo Action camera with a similar display. However, this component should not necessarily be new. GoPro’s Hero Max 360 also has a front screen for vlogging.
And this seems to be the purpose of this screen on Hero 9 Black. After Hero 8 received special vlogging accessories last year, such as an external microphone and an LED lamp, Hero 9 will also receive the last piece of the puzzle. Of course, last year’s accessories will be compatible with the new camera, as the size and shape remain the same. Including the two retractable clips, which are used for attachment on various mounts, remains on the new GoPro Hero 9 Black.
In terms of performance, the new camera could offer 5K resolution filming, compared to 4K filming from the previous generation. But it’s probably 5K at 30 frames per second, not 60.
The launch is imminent
Other details that can be seen in these photos are the fact that there will be two new accessories for the GoPro Hero 9 Black: a silicone case to protect the camera from scratches from impact with the ground or if it touches other objects, as well as a case floating orange for use in water. As with previous generations, the new Hero 9 will also be water and dust resistant without the need for a protective cover.
Given that the new GoPro series usually launches in early fall, the GoPro Hero 9 Black announcement may be very close.
