AMD is preparing for a new PC component launch, this time targeting the mid-range component market. After last year’s launch of the Radeon RX 6800, 6800 XT and 6900 XT graphics cards, which compete on the market with RTX 3070, 3080 and 3090, it’s time for a real competitor from AMD for RTX 3060 Ti, the mid-range model of NVIDIA. The new model is called RX 6700 XT and will be officially launched next week.
The Radeon RX 6700 XT will offer a mid-range alternative from AMD
The company has not provided many details at the moment about the Radeon 6700 XT, but we have a first image, which demonstrates the design of the reference version of the graphics card, as well as some minor information. Of course, we know that this graphics card is based on the RDNA2 architecture, the same one we find in the new Radeon RX 6000 models, as well as in the new generation consoles such as PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series.
The Radeon RX 6700 XT will be based on a new chip, the Navi 22 XT, probably with lower power consumption than high-end Radeon models. This is also suggested by the fact that the cooling system uses only two fans, compared to three on the other models. Power consumption could be 230 W.
Specifications that have escaped the internet suggest that we will be dealing with less video memory and a slower speed for this. The Navi 22 XT could be equipped with 40 computing units and 2560 streaming processors, lowering the performance level to a lower threshold, equaling or exceeding the competing offer from NVIDIA. Also, this model could be equipped with 12 GB GDDR6, compared to 16 on the 6800 and 6900 models. However, the memory could be on a 192-bit bus, with a speed of 384 GB / s. There is already information about a non-XT Radeon 6700, which will use a Navi 22 XL chip. This model could only consume 189 W.
The price could be around 400 US dollars, just like RTX 3060 Ti from Nvidia. Of course, the chances of the Radeon 6700 XT being available at this price for a long time are low, as last year’s stock issues expanded in 2021 as well.
