OnePlus 2 Available to Install Android Nougat via LineageOS Custom ROM

The OnePlus 2 was released in August 2015 with Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box and later it was upgraded to 6.0.1 Marshmallow. In February is expected to arrive OxygenOS 4.0 which is based on Nougat, but users who don’t want to wait until then can try out the new LineageOS custom ROM that was created especially for this mode. However, we must warn users that this is a nightly version and it contains bugs.

CyanogenMod grew in popularity until some point, when the project was shut down. Some of the software programmers that contributed with custom ROMs founded a new community called LineageOS, where everyone is free to upload functional custom ROMs for as many Android devices as possible. The OnePlus 2 is on the list and today we’ll teach you how to install Android Nougat on it. First of all, you should know that this custom ROM doesn’t have the root file integrated, so you will need to download and install it just like you normally do with Google Apps (GApps).

The OnePlus 2 LineageOS [official] 14.1 Android 7.1.1 Nougat custom ROM can be downloaded from the AndroidFileHost and the GApps from LineageOSRom to your PC. The battery of your device must have at least 80 percent juice left, and you must back up data using Clockwork Mod (CWM) Recovery/ TWRP. Also, install the appropriate USB driver on your PC, or else the phone will not be recognized. Connect your OnePlus 2 to PC and copy and paste Android Nougat AOSP ROM in your phone’s storage memory (storage root folder). Restart your phone and enter Recovery mode by long pressing Volume Down and Power buttons.

If you’ve used the TWRP method and now you’re in the Settings menu, the next step is to clear the device’s memory (select wipe option), then perform factory reset by selecting Swipe to Factory Reset. Go back to TWRP settings, tap Install and select .zip file from the phone’s memory. In the TWRP menu setting you’ll tap Swipe to Confirm Flash and the installation process will begin. A few minutes later, you should receive a message that will confirm the success of the installation.
